Kouros

Description

Kouros by Cyrus D is a compact sculptural interpretation of the horse, distilled into a powerful arrangement of curved mass, simplified anatomy, and quiet expression. Measuring approximately 10″ x 18″, the statue features a broad, rounded body that rises into an elongated neck and gently lowered head. Its restrained posture conveys composure and dignity, while the reduced form gives the piece a distinctly modern, almost archetypal presence.

The face is defined through shallow carved details, including an almond-shaped eye, linear muzzle, and subtle contours that reference ancient figurative sculpture without relying on literal realism. A short tail and softly modeled body preserve the horse’s recognizable character while emphasizing volume, balance, and silhouette. The textured metallic surface shifts between deep bronze, antique gold, and dark brown, catching light across its irregular finish and highlighting the handmade quality of the form.

The title Kouros evokes the idealized figures of ancient Greek sculpture, reinforcing the statue’s sense of stillness, proportion, and timeless strength. Its compact scale makes it suitable for display on a console, pedestal, bookshelf, mantel, reception desk, or curated tabletop arrangement. Equally at home in contemporary, classical, equestrian, or minimalist interiors, the sculpture introduces warmth, symbolic presence, and understated visual weight without overwhelming its surroundings.
