Nida Amin is a Pakistani-born visual artist based in the South Bay, California. Her cross-cultural background and early training in textile design inform a practice grounded in material exploration, process, and the emotional resonance of mark-making.
Amin earned her BA in Design from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2002, with a major in weaving and minors in print and interior design. She later received a California Teaching Credential in Adult Education, specializing in creative arts and textile design.
Before transitioning fully into fine art, Amin worked in the fashion and textile industry in Pakistan, including presenting and selling designs internationally at Heimtextil in Frankfurt. Her early work earned recognition including Best Designer Boutique (2003) and graduation with distinction.
Her recent practice focuses on drawing and mixed media, with an emphasis on charcoal, collage, and experimental surface processes. Her work has been exhibited across South Bay, including solo and group exhibitions at Cherry Co, Resin Gallery, Esperanza Gallery, and the Palos Verdes Art Center, where she was awarded the People’s Choice Award. She is also a recipient of the Best Works on Paper Award at the PVLD Community Art Show.she is currently top 20 in Johnny Depp peoples artist competition, she also has a solo show coming up in Collage San Pedro.
In addition to her drawing practice, Amin is an active member of the local arts community. She contributes as a docent for the Art at Your Fingertips program, and teaches drawing at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. She is also affiliated with the San Pedro Art Association and the RBAG artist group.
