Description
Home Within by Annie Huang is an expressive mixed-media artwork that reflects the personal and universal meaning of home. Through bold black linework, colorful accents, and intricate hand-drawn patterns, the piece explores the idea that home is not only a physical place, but also a feeling of safety, comfort, and belonging.
The artwork features abstract figures surrounded by layers of symbolic marks, expressive faces, and organic patterns. The detailed illustrations create a visual world filled with memories, emotions, and cultural influences, representing the many experiences that shape a person’s sense of identity.
For Huang, home is found wherever there is peace, encouragement, and connection—the people who support us, the places where we feel accepted, and the inner strength we carry with us. The artwork also reflects the complexity of embracing a new culture while remaining connected to one’s Taiwanese heritage, creating a dialogue between personal roots and evolving experiences.
Combining the precision of POSCA marker drawings with the softness of watercolor, Home Within balances structure and emotion. Every line and symbol contributes to a larger story about resilience, love, and finding belonging within ourselves.
With its vibrant details and meaningful symbolism, this contemporary mixed-media piece brings warmth and personal reflection to any collection or living space.
